& FACILITIES

Term Dates

Here at Studio K we welcome students all year round, so you don’t need to wait until the start of a new term to join us. We run our kids and teen classes in three twelve week terms and normally break for one week for half term. However, dancing doesn’t stop when the Summer Term does, make sure you ask for information on our Summer Camps as well. Our aim is to keep all of our students dancing all year round!

Term dates 2023/24

Autumn Term

Monday 11th September to Saturday 9th December (half term – 23rd to 28th October)

Spring Term

Monday 8th January to Thursday 28th March (half term – 12th to 17th February)

Summer Term

Friday 12th April to Saturday 20th July (half term – 27th May to 1st June)

Facilities

We have 2 studios, that we nickname K1 and K2! K1 is our studio that sits right on top of Richmond train station and K2 is just across the road in Sun Alley (in the alley right next to Carluccios). Look out for which studio is listed as the location for your classes.

We advise that where possible your child arrives changed and ready for class as changing space at both of our venues is limited. Please do not wear dance shoes outside! We also ask that no dirty/muddy shoes are worn in the dance studios. There is somewhere to fill up water at both of our studios but make sure you bring a bottle as we don’t give out any plastic cups.

None of our venues have onsite parking but there are local car parks nearby. Check the residential streets locally too, as some of them are free to park in the evening and sometimes on weekends as well. If you are looking for a local carpark we normally recommend Old Deer Car Park off the A316. Both studios are very close to Richmond train station, so if you can we recommend getting public transport.

Success Stories
Ava is an active child who had no previous dance experience before finding Studio K but we were looking for a new after school club for her to join. She was worried that the instructors would be really strict and she wasn’t good enough at dance to join in. The free taster class was great and helped to settle any worries we had. Straight away Ava was introduced to the class and made to feel at home. The instructor was fun and energetic and wasn’t scary. Ava left with a big smile on her face and couldn’t wait for her next class!

Her confidence has been boosted and she has made lots of new friends. Having the opportunity to perform has been Ava’s favourite thing about Studio K and I love that she is always encouraged to work hard and keep getting better. We love Studio K and would recommend it to everyone!

Charlotte, Twickenham

“The dance class is really good fun and exciting because we do moves like in “ The Next Step”. My posture, balance and core stability have already improved and I can almost do the box splits already. [The teacher] is always very positive and encourages you to have a go.”

Helena, age 11, Richmond

I can only confirm that Helena really enjoys this class and I’m very impressed how much she is learning. She is also gaining in confidence. The team are providing a fun and relaxed atmosphere, the studio is lovely and the location very convenient.

Caroline, Richmond

FAQ’s
Who are Studio K’s dance classes suitable for?
Any child who wants to have fun learning to dance will benefit from attending our classes. We specialise in working with all children aged 2 to 17 years, whether they are new to dance or have danced in the past, bursting with confidence or a little shy.
My child doesn’t have any dance shoes or uniform – does this matter?
No. We encourage children to wear something comfortable for their first class and then if you decide to join us we can help you with the correct dance attire.
Can my child do a trial in more than one class?
Yes, your child is welcome to try any subjects we have on offer for their age group where we have space! This includes street dance, contemporary, acro dance and our lil and mini groovers classes. We offer a two class intro which you can use to either try the same class for two consecutive weeks or two different classes in the same week.
Do I have to pay for a term or can I just pay as you go?
Due to the progressive nature of our dance classes, we only accept payment on a monthly auto pay for most of our classes. We do offer half term and termly payment options for Mini Groovers and Lil Groovers.
Could you explain the payment system please?
Due to previous feedback from parents we now take payments monthly for all of our kid’s classes. The payment is based on the fact we run our kids classes in line with school terms for 36 weeks of the year. We add up the annual total and then we then divide this evenly into 12 monthly instalments to find the monthly fee you will pay. This means you pay the same every month of the year whether there are 5 classes to attend or no classes (in August for example). If you do decide to leave us we require 30 days’ notice in writing. This can be done via email to info@studiokdance.co.uk.
Is there anywhere I can park at your venues?
None of our venues have onsite parking but there are local car parks nearby. Check the residential streets locally too as some of them are free to park in the evening and sometimes weekends as well. If you are taking class at one of our two Richmond studios we normally recommend Old Deer Car Park off the A316. Both Richmond studios are very close to Richmond train station, so if you can we recommend getting public transport
My child has tried dance classes before and didn’t really enjoy them. Should she / he try again?
YES! Every dance school is different and maybe that class was just not the right one for your child. Have a look at our success stories in this welcome pack to see what other parent’s experiences have been like and how their child benefited from our classes
Does my child have to take part in strict exams and dance shows?
No. We occasionally offer exams in some classes but these are completely optional and are not our main focus at Studio K. We also produce a full studio dance show every 2 years – one of the highlights of the dancing calendar. Although this is not compulsory, we strongly encourage all our students to partake if possible as it is such a great experience for all involved. Friendships grow, confidence blossoms and fun is had by all! If your child does want to perform and compete we also have two street dance competition crews. If you are interested let us know so we can keep you informed as to when we are next auditioning
Are all of your teachers qualified?
Yes, all of our teachers are fully qualified and have gone through our own in house training as well. They are all fully insured and hold a DBS check as well as Level 1 Safeguarding children certificate.
How do I reserve my child’s space in your classes?
If you look at our payment options sheet in this welcome pack it will have all the details including our payment terms and conditions. Simply, all you need to do is pop to reception and pay the registration fee; this secures your child’s place in their class. We will then use the same card to set up the monthly auto pay to start on the 1st of the next month. If you wish to change the card that you pay with at any time, just let us know.
What happens if we miss a class?
Due to there being limited spaces in each class we are not able to offer make up classes or refunds for any missed classes.
What if we need to cancel for any reason?
We operate with a 30 days notice cancellation policy for all of our children’s classes. You would need to give 30 days notice via email in order to cancel. Any scheduled payments that fall within your 30 day notice period will be charged in full.

If you are late for class please register with the receptionist and wait to be called in by the instructor.
Filming/photography
Filming and/or photography are strictly prohibited in all classes by Parents/guardians, with the exception of Watching Week. Any Watching Week media showing other children may not be shared on social media. From time to time Studio K may photograph or film the classes or invite professionals in to do so. These may be shared online for marketing purposes. All parents and carers are invited, on enrolment, to opt-out of their child’s image being shared, please do this by emailing info@studiokdance.co.uk.

Photos and videos that identify students will only be shared where permission has been explicitly granted by the parent or guardian of the child depicted. The use of photography and filming falls within the studio’s Child Protection policy.

It is extremely important that students come to classes dressed in their uniform in order to be able to work correctly and safely in class and present a neat appearance. Trainers must be worn for street dance classes and students in Contemporary and Acro must dance either barefoot or with foot ‘undeez’ (no socks). We ask that all students make a concerted effort to come to class with long hair tied back. Details of the studio uniform are available on the Studio K website.
